The Makkah Development Authority has completed the project of roads No. 204 and No. 206 of Mina before schedule. They were scheduled to be ready by mid-Dul Qaada.
Hisham Al-Falih of the authority told a website that roads No. 204 and No. 206 in Mina were expanded and handed over ahead of schedule by the company which worked on the project.
Al-Falih said that there were many ground visits made for the project and other such projects being done by the authority at the holy sites. These projects were in response to the vision of the leadership of the country to provide all facilities and services to the pilgrims. He said that this was the main spirit behind all these projects which also helped them pass through all sorts of obstacles.
Jalal Al-Kaki, spokesman of the Makkah Development Authority, said that the work on the expansion of roads No. 204 and No. 206 was carried out smoothly. Road No. 206 was expanded to the west by four meters, and was made 22 meters long to connect it with pedestrian road No. 15 heading toward Jamarat. The retaining walls were also made three to four meters high and 200 meters long.
Kaki said that now the width of road No. 204 was unified with the western King Khaled Bridge with 10 meters to make it have a width of two meters. Some camps which were in the way of the expansion were removed or dismantled, and were reassembled according to the existing space.
The concrete stairs which connected pedestrian road No. 5 with the King Fahd Road were also removed and replaced by an eight-meter-wide slope. Similarly, 350-meter-long concrete walls were also built for the slope. These walls are two to three meters high.
He said that all asphalt work on the project was also complete. Along with this, sliding gates were created on road No. 223, near intersection of roads No. 204 and No. 206. A concrete bridge was also built to connect both sides of the King Khaled Bridge. The sliding gates would work as a connection between the new and the old bridges. A number of camps, which were in the way of these projects, were removed and suitably reassembled.
Kaki said that three complexes, with 90 washrooms, were also removed for the project and rebuilt.
